    NetOp Remote Control

Complete, scalable and secure remote control software for IT professionals

    What's New in Version 9.0

NetOp Remote Control 9.0 is the latest version of our remote control software. It’s designed specifically to meet the needs of corporate business, and is packed with numerous features to help IT professionals get the most out of remote control technology. NetOp is typically used for network management, system administration and in helpdesk environments.

Based on an incredibly stable, fast and user-friendly remote control system, this program offers unrivalled flexibility, supporting all commonly used operating systems and communication protocols. And NetOp Remote Control’s intuitive interface and variable settings mean you can literally mold the system to support the way you do business. What’s more, NetOp Remote Control offers the most comprehensive security regime on the market.

The NetOp Remote Control 9.0 Guest modules offer full functionality for Windows Server 2003, XP, 2000, Terminal Services, NT 4.0, ME, 98, 95, and remote control functionality for Windows CE, Linux, Solaris and ActiveX (e.g. in Internet Explorer). The NetOp Remote Control 8.0 Host module offers full functionality for Windows Server 2003, XP, 2000, Terminal Services, NT 4.0, ME, 98 and 95, remote control and file transfer functionality for Linux, Solaris, Mac OS X, OS/2 and Windows CE. NetOp offers the most comprehensive security on the market.  Besides traditional local security features such as password protection, individual or group roles, user notification, automatic call-back, and the highest levels of encryption -- NetOp provides advanced centralized management through support for Windows Security Management (including Active Directory and LDAP) as well as the unique NetOp Security Server. NetOp's Security Server provides centralized security, administration, logging, authentication and authorization for all your NetOp users.  And only NetOp Remote Control offers the NetOp Gateway Server module - providing a secure inbound/outbound software router for up to 200 simultaneous NetOp sessions -- which once again helps you “Move expertise – not people.”

    Functionality highlights

NetOp – Nothing comes remotely close!

NetOp Remote Control is the most comprehensive, effective and security-conscious way to maintain your IT operations. Designed to fit into all environments, NetOp lets you access users running virtually any operating system, including Windows, Linux, Mac OS X and Solaris. Location isn’t terribly important either. The program offers unrivalled connectivity, supporting all standard communication protocols. Finally, NetOp is also the ideal way to manage and administrate your servers. The system contains a sweeping range of remote management tools, all available on one easy-to-use console.

None of this, of course, matters unless you can operate securely. With NetOp you’re protected end-to-end by the most robust set of security measures available in any remote control tool. It’s little wonder, then, that organisations that recognise their reliance on IT, recognise NetOp.

    Security

In today’s high-risk IT environment it’s more essential than ever that remote access is restricted to authorized users only. NetOp Remote Control is built on the premise that people seeking access are intruders until proven otherwise. Any access request must fulfil numerous criteria, including authentication and authorization against a local or, better still, centralized authentication system such as Windows Domain, a Directory Service or a RSA SecurID server. The authorization roles also dictate what actions a Guest is permitted to perform remotely. It’s possible to centralize all authentication and authorization with the NetOp Security Server. Using multiple servers provides load-balancing and fault-tolerance which results in minimal downtime. NetOp Remote Control protects the traffic between the modules against eavesdropping by using 256-bit AES encryption. Intruder attacks can be traced by NetOp’s extensive event logging, which stores data both locally and centrally. Read a Security White Paper

    Communications

Maintaining your firewall’s effectiveness while allowing efficient, secure remote access to your LAN via the Internet is a constant struggle. Without jeopardising firewall security, the versatile communication layer in NetOp Gateway offers a single entry point from the Internet. The Gateway uses only one open TCP port, allowing up to 200 Guest users to simultaneously reach Hosts on the LAN behind the firewall. All traffic is end-to-end encrypted with 256-bit AES and fully authenticated, offering more than most VPN solutions, yet using a standard computer platform.

    Remote management

Managing your network remotely can be cumbersome in Windows since administrative tools are spread out between applications, each with a different user interface. NetOp Remote Control’s Remote Management facility assembles many of these tools in one powerful, easy-to-use console. The Host user can keep working while the computer is being serviced. And Guest users can even collect detailed hardware and software inventory during a session. Remote management sessions also have the advantage of using less bandwidth than a full remote control session, since only management data, rather than screen data, is transmitted between the modules.

    Cross-platform support

Since most large networks are a patchwork of PCs and platforms, your remote control tool needs to support multiple operating systems. NetOp’s Guest and Host modules can connect across the majority of standard communication protocols and across different operating systems with remarkable forward and backward compatibility. Use the Guest and Host from Windows Server 2003, XP and 2000; Terminal Services including Citrix, NT 4.0, ME, 9x and CE; as well as from Linux and Solaris. In addition the Guest program also runs under ActiveX (e.g. in Internet Explorer). The Host can also be launched under Mac OS X, OS/2 and DOS.

    Multi Guest session

The increasing complexity of many IT systems means it often takes more than one support-staff member to solve a particular problem. With NetOp Remote Control multiple Guests can view the same remote desktop, and can even switch keyboard and mouse with each other during a session. Guests using Windows can also monitor whether fellow Guests are connected, what session types are active and who has the keyboard and mouse controls. The features Suspend Connect and Disconnect All allow the controlling Guest to obtain privacy during a session. Multi-Chat enables Guests without other means of communication to type messages in a shared, line-based chat dialog. This can also be utilized as a fully encrypted and authenticated multi-chat application.
